Paul Dewar

Paul Dewar

Paul Dewar was born in Ottawa on January 25, 1963.
Growing up, he had a strong role model in his mother Marion Dewar, an NDP MP and Mayor of Ottawa.
From a young age, Paul saw the difference that we can make in the lives of others.
That’s why after university, Paul went to Nicaragua to volunteer as an aid worker. It’s why he became a teacher. And it’s why he got into politics.
Paul has experience and success, where it counts – on the doorstep, in Parliament and on the national stage.
Paul’s known for his ability to connect with people. He has the popular appeal, the ideas and energy our NDP needs to defeat Stephen Harper.

More about Paul:

  • Served as Foreign Affairs Critic in Jack Layton’s shadow cabinet
  • Elected Vice President of his teachers’ union
  • Lives in Ottawa with his wife Julia and their sons Nathaniel and Jordan
