In case you missed it: Why Harper won’t be talking jobs

Since Harper’s election, 194,000 manufacturing jobs have been lost in Ontario.
The Welland area has been hit particularly hard: Statistics Canada reports that the unemployment rate for St. Catharines-Niagara is 9.6 per cent – nearly two percentage points above the Ontario average.
A review of some of these losses:

“More than 300 people will be out of work at the end of the year when Henniges Automotive closes its Kennedy St. plant.”

Layton offers solutions on jobs, Ignatieff offers little

With joblessness still stubbornly high across the country, Ignatieff released a platform yesterday with little help for families looking for work.
Here’s how Layton’s jobs plan stacks up against Ignatieff’s:

Up to $4,500 credit for new hires.	Credit for youth hiring only.
Reduce small business tax rate from 11% to 9%.	Sticking with the Harper tax rate.
4 year extension on Accelerated Capital Cost Allowance.	Sticking with the Harper status quo.
Assistance tied to job creation.	Sticking with the Harper status quo.

Michael Ignatieff is part of the problem in Ottawa. He has no solutions for families looking for jobs.
